Technical Information for Optimizing Performance

For new subscribers, here is some information that may be helpful to ensure your browser correctly displays the newspaper. You will need Adobe Reader. Get it free by clicking here: .

If you are using a PC:
  • Your operating system should be no older than Windows XP or Windows 2000. Newer operating systems also work well.
  • Your browser should be Internet Explorer 5, Mozilla 1.7, or a later version. Be sure to set your browser to "View PDF files."


    • If you are using a Mac:
  • Your operating system needs to be OS X 10.3 or newer.
  • You will need a Safari browser, set to "View PDF files."


    • Creating the best viewing experience:
  • Pop-up blockers should be turned off, and screen resolution should be set to 1024 X 768 or better.
  • Adjust your Adobe Acrobat settings by clicking on the "Edit" pop-down menu, and choosing "Preferences." On the left you will see a list, and you want to choose "Page Display." Select the "Custom Resolution" option on the right, choose the "Pixel/Inch" preference, and set it to 72.
